3D Breadth

I have finished my 3D breadth. Quite a few of my works have strong messages conveyed through both the materials and subject matter. Some of the works are not finished; however, they will soon be done and photographed better. Even though this is my breadth, many of the pieces are typical of my artistic style.

Shake It...Again...Again

More Shake It photos. Not much to say. It was taken on the iPhone.
Some of these pictures were taken of a burning sculpture. The rest of them focused on shadows and light and color.

Double-Decker Pier

I'm making a double-decker pier. It's going to be like a shopping center thing on a pier. At the end of the pier there is an aquarium that goes underwater. Down the center of the pier are two large rectangular holes which will become two large buildings (possibly a Target and Macy's). In the front, there will be a stair case and in the back there will probably be another stair case but I need to think through how I will do it. I have also constructed small square (2inx2in.) that are like the atriums in popeii. I'm going to put a bunch of detail all over the place...eventually. This was made with Foam core, Paper, and something called Basswood.

Shake It......Again

Here are some more Shake It photos taken exclusively from my iPhone. They are all taken at different times at different places so they are merely a random assortment of pictures that have no connected quality at all.

Teapot

I made a teapot. It was made out of clay with the slab method (just to be technical). I also found out that you can use vinegar instead of slip so I decided to try that out (it works well). The objects I sculpted onto it were not planned or related in any way but now I feel like the teapot demonstrates the absurdity and childishness of violence. I see this with the whimsy in the tongues and the violence depicted through, the soon to be, brass knuckles.  I think I will paint it/ glaze it in a way that emulates that idea. Also, I plan on having it stand on something war like but I'm not sure yet; however, I want the structure to be made from metal or look like metal. I will post more pictures when its complete.

Mon-e

I made this thing out of one dollar bills and fishing line. I put this thing on a lamp and it made a sculpture and it took ten-ish minutes to make. It obviously not my most favorite work but it will do. This could either be a cool photography piece or a cool sculpture; you decide. Either way the name will be "Mon-e".

iPhone: Shake It

I saw some really cool work by Mark Leet where he took a bunch of amazing photos with an iPhone camera (specifically, "Shake It" which converts photos into Polaroids). I tried it out for myself and I found that the colors are much richer and the light seems to become more contrasted; this is what I came up with:

"Herbert"

"Painter: Enter Here"

Self Portraits

Last night, I could barely sleep for some reason, so I made a sculpture out of aluminum wire. The sculpture was a piece that was an amorphous thing that really couldn't stand on its own, so I decided to use it for a photography piece instead as a sculpture. I thought it could really interesting to use it for a self portrait and this it what my camera came up with:

I just put all of them on here because I could easily change them if I want to but some are a little too blurry for me. It seems to focus on the ideas surrounding entrapment-- at least, that's what I just decided. I think I could edit them if i wanted to use them but its going to be a lot of work.
