2D CONCENTRATION...

Drawing Portfolio

These are the pieces I have selected for my drawing portfolio (both breadth and concentration)

For the breadth, I tried to focus on a variety of skills as well as a variety of mediums. The majority of the works are made with at least two mediums; some of them were used to extenuate the skill demanded by the College Board.

Oil Paint and Sawdust on Canvas
Acrylic and Oil Paint on Canvas
Charcoal and Spray Paint on Charcoal Paper
Watercolor and Colored Pencil on Bristol paper
Charcoal and Pastel Chalk on Tinted Paper
 Water-based Oil Paint Canvas
Conte Crayon and Oil Pastel on Newsprint
 Pen and Graphite on Paper
 Scratchboard
 Intaglio Print on Printmaking Paper
Ink and Pastel Chalk on Watercolor Paper
 Acrylic on Wood

As for my concentration, I decided to depict the indescribable emotions that human beings experience, through the aesthetics of abstract caves. Caves themselves have such a natural energy; they evolve over time only because of manipulation they are subjected to; people subject themselves to intense enjoyment, pain, and fear while changing in the process. This concentration shows changes in energy affected by life's natural course.

The concentration looks to identify the student's ability to create a coherent idea and style while still taking risks. To make my abilities more apparent, I decided to use only oil paint and water-based oil paint and I constructed my caves with "blocks" made from Oleoimpasto, a Liquin impasto medium that is thick and fast drying. I was able to change the form of the caves and take risks now that the visuals are connected.

(There are two pieces that are not included because I need to take the picture and upload it....... typical)
